• Inger Andersen of Denmark has been appointed as the new Executive Director of United Nations Environment Programme.

4. COP-14 of United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification

• India will be hosting 14th session of Conference of Parties of United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification for the first time.
• The United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification in Those Countries Experiencing Serious Drought and/or Desertification,
• Particularly in Africa (UNCCD) is a Convention to combat desertification and mitigate the effects of drought through national action programs that incorporate long-term strategies supported by international cooperation and partnership arrangements.

1. National Squash Title

• Joshna Chinappa has won 17th National Squash Title defeating Sunayna Kuruvilla.
• Joshna Chinappa is an Indian professional squash player. She reached a career-high world ranking of World No. 10 in July 2016. Joshna was the first Indian to win the British Squash Championship title in 2003 in the under 19 category and was also the youngest Indian women’s national champion.

2. Copa America 2020

• South American Football Federation CONMEBOL has invited Australia and Qatar to participate in 2020 Copa America as guest teams.
• The 2020 Copa América will be the 47th edition of the Copa América, the quadrennial international men’s football championship organized by South America’s football ruling body CONMEBOL.
• The tournament will take place in Colombia and Argentina from 12 June to 12 July 2020.

3. US Open 2019 Golf

• Gary Woodland has won the 119th US Open Golf tournament defeating Brooks Koepka.
• The 2019 United States Open Championship was the 119th U.S. Open, played at Pebble Beach Golf Links in Pebble Beach, California.
• Gary Woodland is an American professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour.
