National News

1. Akkineni Nageswara Rao National Award

• Actors Sridevi and Rekha were conferred with the Akkineni Nageswara Rao National Award for 2018 and 2019 respectively.
• Akkineni Nageswara Rao National Award is instituted by the Akkineni International Foundation.

2. First night trial of Agni II missile

• India has successfully conducted the first night trial of Agni-II missile from Dr Abdul Kalam Island off Odisha coast.
• The Agni missile is a family of medium to intercontinental range ballistic missiles developed by India, named after one of the five elements of nature. Agni missiles are long range, nuclear weapons capable surface to surface ballistic missile.
• The first missile of the series, Agni-I was developed under the Integrated Guided Missile Development Program (IGMDP) and tested in 1989.
• The upcoming Agni-VI missile is likely to carry up to 10 MIRV warheads and will have a strike range of 12,000 km.

3. 47th Chief Justice of India

• Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde took oath as the 47th Chief Justice of India replacing Ranjan Gogoi.
• The Supreme Court of India is the highest judicial court and the final court of appeal under the Constitution of India, the highest constitutional court, with the power of judicial review.
• Supreme Court established: 28th January 1950.

4. North India’s 1st sugar mill which will produce ethanol

• Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath has inaugurated North India’s first sugar mill in Gorakhpur which will produce ethanol direct from sugarcane.

International News

1. International Conference on Agricultural Statistics

• The 8th edition of International Conference on Agricultural Statistics will be held in India.
• Theme: ‘Statistics for Transformation of Agriculture to Achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)’.

2. Exercise Za’ir-Al-Bahr 2019

• The first joint maritime exercise Za’ir-Al-Bahr 2019 by Qatar and Indian Navy began in Doha, Qatar.

3. International cherry blossom festival 2019

• Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has Inaugurated the 4th International Cherry Blossom Festival 2019 held in Shillong, Meghalaya.
• It celebrates the unique autumn flowering of Himalayan Cherry Blossoms (scientifically known as the Prunusserrulata).

1. New Rules under Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code

• Government of India has issued fresh rules under Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code to manage the rescue of non-bank lenders.
• RBI has been given the authority to decide which companies will be taken up to a bankruptcy tribunal under these rules.
• The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016 is the bankruptcy law of India which seeks to consolidate the existing framework by creating a single law for insolvency and bankruptcy. The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2015 was introduced in Lok Sabha in December 2015.

2. World’s Biggest Public Offer

• Saudi Aramco is aiming for a valuation of $1.6 trillion to $1.7 trillion from its initial public offering.
• Saudi Aramco’s much-anticipated initial public offering (IPO) opened for subscription from 17 November, but the final price will only be determined on 5 December, the day after all subscriptions close.
• Saudi Aramco, officially the Saudi Arabian Oil Company, is a Saudi Arabian national petroleum and natural gas company based in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. It is one of the largest companies in the world by revenue, and according to accounts seen by Bloomberg News, the most profitable company in the world.

1. Panasonic Open (Golf)

• Kim JooHyung of South Korea has won Panasonic Open held at the Classic Golf and Country Club in Gurugram, India.
• Runner-up: Shiv Kapur of India with S. Chikkarangappa of India.
• Shiv Kapur is an Indian professional golfer. Kapur went to Purdue University and played the amateur circuit in the United States. He had a successful amateur career, winning the Indian and Malaysian Amateur Opens in 2000 and an individual gold medal at the 2002 Asian Games.

2. World Athletics

• International Association of Athletics Federations has officially changed its name ‘World Athletics’.
• World Athletics, previously known as the International Association of Athletics Federations, is the international governing body for the sport of athletics, covering track and field, cross country running, road running, racewalking, mountain running and ultrarunning.
