1. India’s first Snow Leopard conservation center

  • Uttarakhand will open India’s first snow leopard conservation center.
  • It will be built under central government scheme ‘SECURE Himalaya’.

2. Foreign Secretary of India

  • Harsh Vardhan Shringla took charge as new foreign secretary for a two-year term, succeeding Vijay Gokhale.
  • He previously served as the Ambassador of India to the United States, the High Commissioner to Bangladesh and Ambassador to Thailand.

3. Book ‘Calcutta Nights’

  • Rajat Chaudhuri has written the book named Calcutta Nights which is an English translation of Bengali fiction, ‘Raater Kolkata’.
  • Rajat Chaudhuri is an Indian novelist and short story writer. He is the author of the critically acclaimed works Hotel Calcutta, a short story cycle; The Butterfly Effect, the novel Amber Dusk and other books.

4. Tushar Kanjilal passes away

  • Social worker Tushar Kanjilal has passed away.
  • Tushar Kanjilal was an Indian social worker, political activist, environmentalist, writer and headmaster of Rangabelia High School.

1. USMCA North American Trade Deal

2. Sanjana Kapoor to receive ‘Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters’

  • Sanjana Kapoor received the prestigious French honour of ‘Chevalier dans lOrdre des Arts et des Lettres’ (Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters).
  • She was awarded for her outstanding contribution to the field of theatre.
  • The Ordre des Arts et des Lettres is an Order of France established on 2 May 1957 by the Minister of Culture. Its supplementary status to the Ordre national du Mérite was confirmed by President Charles de Gaulle in 1963.

3. Oscars’ first female Orchestra Conductor

  • Irish composer Eimear Noone will be the first woman to conduct an orchestra at the Oscars.
  • Eímear Noone is an Irish conductor and composer, best known for her award-winning work on video game music. She has conducted the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic, l’Orchestre symphonique de Bretagne, the Sydney Symphony, the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, and several other national orchestras.

4. Economic Outlook Survey by FICCI

  • Economic Outlook Survey by FICCI has projected the India’s GDP Growth for 2019-20 at 5.0% and to improve to 5.5% in FY21.

1. National Games 2020

  • The 36th National Games of India will be held between 20 October and 4 November 2020 in Goa, India.

2. MCC’s World Cricket Committee

  • Former England Cricketer Alastair Cook and ex-West Indies team manager Ricky Skerritt became new members of MCC’s World Cricket Committee.
  • Marylebone Cricket Club is a cricket club founded in 1787 and based since 1814 at Lord’s Cricket Ground, which it owns, in St John’s Wood, London. The club was formerly the governing body of cricket in England, Scotland and Wales, and still holds considerable global influence.
