1. Hallmarking to be mandatory for Gold Jewellery

• Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution has notified that Hallmarking of gold jewellery and artefacts will be made mandatory across the country from January 15, 2021.
• A hallmark is an official mark or series of marks struck on items made of metal, mostly to certify the content of noble metals—such as platinum, gold, silver and in some nations, palladium. In a more general sense, the term hallmark can also be used to refer to any distinguishing characteristic.

2. New Controller General of Accounts

• Soma Roy Burman has assumed the charge of new Controller General of Accounts (CGA) as the 24th CGA for the same.
• Controller General of Accounts (CGA), in the Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance, is the Principal Accounting Adviser to Government of India and is responsible for establishing and maintaining a technically sound Management Accounting System.
• What is the difference between CAG and CGA?
• While CAG is a constitutional body, CGA is not.
• While President lays down general principles of government accounting relating to union/state governments and form of accounts on the advice of CAG {article 150}, CGA does the maintenance works of them.

4. Border Security Force 55th raising day

• Border Security Force (BSF) personnel on 1st December 2019 observed organization’s 55th raising day.
• The Border Security Force is the border defence organisation of India. It is one of the seven Central Armed Police Forces of India, and was raised in the wake of the 1965 War on 1 December 1965, “for ensuring the security of the borders of India and for matters connected there with”.

1. Saudi Arabia elected to UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee

• Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, for the first time, was elected to the World Heritage Committee’s executive board for the term 2019-2023.

3. International Day for the Abolition of Slavery

• The International Day for the Abolition of Slavery international day is a yearly event on December 2, organized since 1986 by the United Nations General Assembly.
• According to the International Labour Organisation (ILO) more than 40 million people worldwide are victims of modern slavery.
• The International Labour Organization is a United Nations agency whose mandate is to advance social justice and promote decent work by setting international labour standards. It was the first specialised agency of the UN.

1. Vijaya Bank and Dena bank removed from second schedule of RBI Act

• RBI has excluded Vijaya Bank and Dena Bank from the second schedule of the RBI Act with effect from April 1, 2019.
• Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934 is the legislative act under which the Reserve Bank of India was formed. This act along with the Companies Act, which was amended in 1936, were meant to provide a framework for the supervision of banking firms in India.

2. Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan and National Pension Scheme for Traders and Self Employed Persons

• Government of India has launched a drive to enroll one crore beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan (PM-SYM) and National Pension Scheme for Traders and Self Employed Persons (NPS-Traders) by March 2020.
• Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan scheme is meant for old age protection and social security of Unorganised Workers (UW) who are mostly engaged as rickshaw pullers, street vendors, mid-day meal workers, head loaders, brick kiln workers, cobblers, rag pickers, domestic workers, washer men, home-based workers, own account workers, agricultural workers, construction workers, beedi workers, handloom workers, leather workers, audio – visual workers or in similar other occupations.
• Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan scheme Eligibility Criteria: Should be an unorganised worker (UW) || Entry age between 18 and 40 years || Monthly Income ₹15000 or below
• Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan scheme : It is a voluntary and contributory pension scheme, under which the subscriber would receive a minimum assured pension of ₹3000/- per month after attaining the age of 60 years and if the subscriber dies, the spouse of the beneficiary shall be entitled to receive 50% of the pension as family pension. Family pension is applicable only to spouse.

• National Pension Scheme for Traders and Self-Employed Persons
• The scheme is meant for old age protection and social security of retail traders/ shopkeepers and self-employed persons whose annual turnover is not exceeding Rs. 1.5 crore. These retail traders/ shopkeepers and self-employed persons are mostly working as shop owners, retail traders, rice mill owners, oil mill owners, workshop owners, commission agents, brokers of real estate, owners of small hotels, restaurants and other LaghuVyaparis.
• Eligibility Criteria : Should be a retail trader/ shopkeeper or self-employed persons || Entry age between 18 and 40 years || Annual turnover is Rs. 1.5 crore or below
• It is a voluntary and contributory pension scheme, under which the subscriber would receive a minimum assured pension of Rs 3000/- per month after attaining the age of 60 years and if the subscriber dies, the spouse of the beneficiary shall be entitled to receive 50% of the pension as family pension. Family pension is applicable only to spouse.

1. Kopa Trophy

• Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt has been named as the winner of the 2019 Kopa Trophy.
• The Kopa Trophy is an association football award presented to the best performing player under the age of 21. It is organised by France Football. The award is named after former French footballer Raymond Kopa and the winner is selected by former Ballon d’Or winners.
• De Ligt inherits the award from France and Paris Saint-Germain last time winner Kylian Mbappe.

2. Yachine Trophy

• Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson has been crowned the first ever winner of the Yachine Trophy at 2019 Ballon d’Or ceremony in Paris.
• Alisson played a crucial role in Liverpool’s Champions League success and started six times for Brazil in their triumphant Copa America campaign.
