1. S S Rajamouli receives ANR award

  • Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu felicitated film-maker S S Rajamouli with the prestigious ANR National Award.
  • The ANR National Award was instituted by the Akkineni International foundation in the honor of Akkineni Nageswara Rao.

2. Akshay Kumar appointed Uttarkhand Swachh Bharat Mission Brand.

  • Uttarakhand CM Trivendra Singh Rawat announced the appointment of Akshay Kumar as the brand Ambassador of the Swachh Bharat Mission in the state.
  • Akshay was also appointed as the Brand Ambassador for the cleanliness campaign of Uttar Pradesh.

3. Cabinet approves Rationalization/merger of the government of India press.

  • The Union Cabinet has given its approval for rationalization/merger and modernization of 17 Government of India Press(GIPs)/ Units into 5 Government of India Presses(GIPs) at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
  • These 5 presses will be redeveloped and modernised by monetization of their surplus land.

International News

1. India to conduct first ‘BIMSTEC’ disaster management exercise 2017.

  • The first ‘BIMSTEC’ disaster management exercise will be conducted by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) in Delhi.
  • Delegates from all seven nations of the ‘Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Corporation’ (BIMSTEC) will be present.

2. IDF and US army inaugurates permanent American Military Base In Israel.

  • The US army and Israel Defence Forces inaugurated a permanent US army base in Israel.
  • This is the first time that a permanent base has been opened by US in middle eastern conutry.

3. Russia unveils 30ft statue of Mikhali Kalashinkov.

  • Russia unveiled 30-feet high statue of AK-47 inventor MIkhali Kalashinkov.
  • The rifle is believed to have killed more people than all other types of modern weapons taken together.

Business News

1. Three Indians on Forbes’ 100 greatest living Business Minds list.

  • Ratan Tata, Lakshmi Mittal and Vinod Khosla are three Indians among the Forbes’ 100 Greatest Living Business Minds list.
  • Ratan Tata is former Chairman of TATA sons, Lakshmi Mittal is the CEO and Chairman of Arcelor Mitttal and Vinod Khosla is the founder of venture capital Khosla Ventures.

2. India’s first Driver-less tractor to be in market by 2018: Mahindra.

  • Mahindra and Mahindra, an Indian automobile maker has showcased India’s first driverless tractor, which is expected to be available in market by 2018.
  • Company is also planning to launch the driverless tractor in International markets like US and Japan.

3. World’s biggest Wealth Fund hits $1tn value for first time.

  • Norway’s sovereign wealth fund, the largest in the world reached value of $1tn.
  • The fund mainly invests in stocks, bonds and real estates.

Sports News
1. BCCI nominates Dhoni for Padma Bhushan award.

  • BCCI has nominated MS Dhoni for country’s third highest civilian award, the Padma Bhushan for his contribution to game.
  • This is only nomination by BCCI for award this year.

2.  International Yoga festival begins in Kashmir.

  • J&K governor N N Vhora inaugurated the second international Yoga Festival and International Yoga Sports Championship 2017.
  • The first International Yoga festival was held in Uttarakhand.
