2. Inaugural Commercial Flight Using Eco-Friendly Fuel Takes to Indian Skies

  • A pioneering commercial flight by AirAsia India, an Air India offshoot, recently flew between Pune and Mumbai using a domestically produced sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) blend.
  • Flight I5767 utilized a mix of SAF and conventional aviation turbine fuel.
  • This blend was facilitated by Indian Oil in collaboration with Praj Industries, who brought the requisite technology.
  • An overview of SAF:
    • Often called bio-jet fuel.
    • Manufactured from renewable biomass and waste materials.

3. ’75/25′ Campaign Rolled Out by Health Ministry

  • The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare introduced the “75/25” campaign, targeting the screening of 75 million individuals for hypertension and diabetes by 2025 using Standard Care.
  • As part of this initiative, the Shashakt Portal has been launched to train around 40,000 primary healthcare officers on the Standard Treatment Protocol for NCDs.
  • Updated operational guidelines for the NP-NCD program have also been unveiled by the ministry to expand its reach.

4. Central Government to Receive ₹87,416 Crore Dividend from RBI for Fiscal Year ’23

  • The Reserve Bank of India’s governing board has sanctioned a transfer of ₹87,416 crore as a surplus to the government for the financial year 2023, overshooting the budgeted amount by a significant 82%.
  • Initially, the national budget projected a combined dividend of ₹48,000 crore from RBI and state-run banks.
  • This sizable surplus contribution from RBI will support the government in streamlining its fiscal calculations.
  • For comparison, the previous fiscal saw RBI disbursing ₹30,307 crore to the government.
