1. Private Secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi

3. Chandrayaan-2

  • Chandrayaan-2 is India’s second lunar exploration mission after Chandrayaan-1 in October 2008.

  • The mission was launched from the second launch pad at Satish Dhawan Space Centre on 22 July 2019 at 2.43 PM IST to the Moon by a Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle Mark III.

1. Naval MRSAM systems

  • Israel Aerospace Industries has signed a $50 million deal with India to supply ‘Naval MRSAM systems’ to Indian Navy and Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders.

2. Blue Flag certification

  • Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change of India has selected 12 beaches in India to compete for ‘Blue Flag Certification’.
  • ‘Blue Flag Certification’ is international recognition for beaches and marinas under certain criteria of cleanliness and environmental propriety.
  • ‘Blue Flag Certification’ is run by Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), a Copenhagen based international NGO.

  • 1. Jeff Bezos: Amazon Inc’s founder with a net worth of $124 billion.
  • 2. Bernard Arnault: French businessman and CEO of LVMH (a merger of renowned brands Louis Vuitton and Moet Hennessy) with a net worth of $108 billion wealth.

1. Internet Saathi’ Programme

  • ‘Internet Saathi’ is an initiative of Google India and Tata Trusts which is aimed at facilitating digital literacy among women in rural India.
  • It will be expanded to villages in Punjab and Odisha.

2. Aditya Birla Payments Bank

  • Aditya Birla Payments Bank has announced the shutting down of its operation.
  • Aditya Birla Payments Bank is a joint venture between Grasim and Vodafone Idea.

3. GoAir’s COO

  • GoAir has appointed former Airbus executive Miranda Mills as its Chief Operating Officer.
  • GoAir is an Indian low-cost airline based in Mumbai, India. It is owned by the Indian business conglomerate Wadia Group. In October 2017 it was the fifth largest airline in India with an 8.4% passenger market share.

4. RBI panel on Economic Capital Framework

  • RBI’s Panel on Economic Capital Framework led by Bimal Jalan has finalised its report on surplus RBI reserves.
  • Recommendation: Surplus Reserves held by RBI should be transferred to Government in tranches over three to five years.
  • Bimal Jalan is a former Governor of Reserve Bank of India and was a nominated member of the Upper House of India’s Parliament, the Rajya Sabha during 2003–2009.

1. Commonwealth Table Tennis Championship

  • Women’s and Men’s Indian Team has won 21st Commonwealth Table Tennis Championship at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi.
  • Table tennis, also known as ping-pong, is a sport in which two or four players hit a lightweight ball back and forth across a table using small rackets. The game takes place on a hard table divided by a net.

2. President’s Cup (Boxing)

  • Boxer Shiva Thapa has won a Gold Medal in 63 kg category in President’s Cup in Kazakhstan.

3. International Association of Athletics Federations’ Veteran Pin

  • P. T. Usha has been nominated for International Association of Athletics Federations’ Veteran Pin.
  • Pilavullakandi Thekkeparambil Usha is a retired Indian track and field athlete. She has been associated with Indian athletics since 1979. She is often called the “queen of Indian track and field”.
