National News

1. President Murmu Unveils Ambedkar Statue at Supreme Court:

  • President Droupadi Murmu marked Constitution Day by unveiling a statue of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar at the Supreme Court.
  • Constitution Day, celebrated since 2015 on November 26, commemorates the adoption of the Indian Constitution in 1949.
  • The day, formerly known as Law Day, emphasizes India’s dedication to the principles of its constitution.

2. India’s Biogas Blending Initiative:

  • The Indian government has laid out plans to start blending compressed biogas with natural gas from April 2025, starting at 1% and aiming for about 5% by 2028.
  • This step is part of India’s efforts to reduce reliance on natural gas imports and achieve net zero emissions by 2070.

3. Mumbai Street Named After Actor Vikram Gokhale:

  • The Maharashtra Government has decided to name a street in Andheri West, Mumbai, after the late actor-director Vikram Chandrakant Gokhale.
  • This street is significant as it is near the CINTAA and CAWT headquarters and leads to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital.

4. “No Non-Veg Day” in Uttar Pradesh:

  • Uttar Pradesh has declared November 25 as “no non-veg day” to honor the birth anniversary of Sadhu T.L. Vaswani.
  • This decision includes the closure of all slaughterhouses and meat shops on that day.
  • Sadhu T.L. Vaswani was known for his vegetarian advocacy and contributions to women’s education and liberation.

5. India’s Largest Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh:

  • The Indian government has approved the creation of the country’s largest tiger reserve in Damoh district, Madhya Pradesh.
  • The reserve will be formed by merging Noradehi Sanctuary with Durgavati Sanctuary, covering 2,300 square kilometers.

6. Odisha Approves Investment in 12 Major Projects:

  • Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik of Odisha has sanctioned 12 significant projects worth Rs 84,918.75 crore.
  • These projects are expected to create employment for over 42,000 people across various sectors and districts.

7. World Sustainable Transport Day 2023:

  • The UN General Assembly has designated November 26 as World Sustainable Transport Day.
  • The 2023 theme is “Sustainable transport, sustainable development,” highlighting the importance of environmentally friendly transportation.

8. Kambala Races in Bengaluru:

  • Bengaluru hosted its first-ever Kambala race, drawing in over 11 lakh spectators.
  • The event included quarter and semi-finals, with replays shown on an LED screen.
  • A special highlight was the felicitation of a highly decorated buffalo, a winner in numerous Kambala championships.
