3. National Aids Control Organization with Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment

• National Aids Control Organization has signed an MoU with Social Justice and Empowerment Ministry for prevention and control of HIV related diseases.
• The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment is a Government of India ministry. It is responsible for welfare, social justice and empowerment of disadvantaged and marginalised sections of society, including scheduled castes, Other Backward Classes, the disabled, the elderly, and the victims of drug abuse.
• Dr.Thawar Chand Gehlot is an Indian politician who currently serves as the Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment in the NDA Government. He is currently the leader of the upper house of Indian Parliament.
• The National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO), established in 1992 is a division of India’s Ministry of Health and Family Welfare that provides leadership to HIV/AIDS control programme in India through 35 HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control Societies, and is “the nodal organisation for formulation of policy and implementation of programs for prevention and control of HIV/AIDS in India.”.

4. 24-hour Education Television channel for school students

• Education Department of Tamil Nadu has launched an exclusive 24-hour Education Television channel for school students.

2. Opioid Addiction Crisis

• Johnson & Johnson has been ordered to pay $572 million for Opioid Addiction Crisis in USA.
• Oklahoma court has accused Johnson & Johnson of its role in fostering the state’s opioid addiction crisis.
• Opioids are a diverse class of moderately strong painkillers, including oxycodone, hydrocodone and fentanyl, which is synthesized to resemble other opiates such as opium-derived morphine and heroin.
• Johnson & Johnson is an American multinational corporation founded in 1886 that develops medical devices, pharmaceutical and consumer packaged goods.

3. International Day against Nuclear Tests

• The International Day against Nuclear Tests is observed on August 29.
• It was established on December 2, 2009 at the 64th session of the United Nations General Assembly by the resolution 64/35, which was adopted unanimously.

1. Internet of Things India Congress 2019

• The 4th edition of Internet of Things India Congress 2019 was held in Bangalore.
• Theme: ‘Mainstreaming the Internet of Things’.
• It was organised by Institution of Engineering and Technology India.
• The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) is a multidisciplinary professional engineering institution. The IET was formed in 2006 from two separate institutions: the Institution of Electrical Engineers (IEE), dating back to 1871, and the Institution of Incorporated Engineers (IIE) dating back to 1884.

2. Committee to Review the Extant Economic Capital Framework of the RBI

• Central Board of RBI has approved the transfer of Rs 1,76,051 crore to Government of India which is in line with the recommendations of ‘Bimal Jalan Committee’.
• The Reserve Bank of India, in consultation with the Government of India, had constituted an Expert Committee to Review the Extant Economic Capital Framework of the RBI under the chairmanship of Dr.Bimal Jalan.
• Bimal Jalan is a former Governor of Reserve Bank of India and was a nominated member of the Upper House of India’s Parliament, the Rajya Sabha during 2003–2009.

3. Gaganyaan Mission

• Critical Components to Gaganyaan Mission will be supplied by Roscosmos(Russian state run space corporation), Russia.
• French space agency CNES-National Centre for Space Studies will train Indian space medicine personnel for Gaganyaan.
• Gaganyaan is an Indian crewed orbital spacecraft intended to be the basis of the Indian Human Spaceflight Programme. The spacecraft is being designed to carry three people, and a planned upgraded version will be equipped with rendezvous and docking capability.
• Gaganyaan mission: Manufacture- Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd and ISRO.
• First launch- December 2020 (uncrewed) || December 2021 (crewed).

4. Interest Subvention Scheme for Kisan Credit Card

• RBI has issued Guidelines on Interest Subvention Scheme for Kisan Credit Card to Fisheries and Animal Husbandry Farmers during 2018-19 And 2019-20.
• A concessional interest rate of 7% per annum during the years only 2018-19 and 2019-20 for the short loan up to Rs. 2 lakh.
• The Interest subvention is available for animal husbandry and fisheries farmers at the rate of 2% per annum at the time of disbursal of loan.
• An additional interest subvention of 3% per annum given to farmers, who repaying in time
• Interest subvention simply means a subsidy offered on interest rates. The subsidy helps the loan borrower in not having to pay the total interest amount on a loan amount. Therefore, the government pays part of the interest amount for the borrower, thereby lessening the borrower’s overall repayment burden.
• Kisan Credit Card is a credit scheme introduced in August 1998 by NABARD on the recommendations of R.V. Gupta committee.

2. Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium to be renamed

• Delhi & District Cricket Association has announced that Feroz Shah Kotla cricket stadium will be renamed after Arun Jaitley.
• Arun Jaitley Stadium is a cricket ground located at Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, New Delhi. Established in 1883 as the Feroze Shah Kotla stadium, it is the second oldest international cricket stadium.

3. FIFA U- 17 Women’s World Cup India 2020

• FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2020 will be the 7th edition and will be hosted by India.
• Kalinga Stadium in the city of Bhubaneswar selected as the first venue for the 2020 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
• The 2020 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup will be the 7th edition of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, the biennial international women’s youth football championship contested by the under-17 national teams of the member associations of FIFA
