National News
1. India’s First Global Mobility Summit
- NITI Aayog is going to organise ‘MOVE: Global Mobility Summit’ in New Delhi in September 2018. The three designated components of the summit is:- The Conclave, the Expo and the Featured Events.
- This Summit will help drive Government’s goals for vehicle electrification, renewable energy integration and job growth and also speed up India’s transition to a clean energy economy.
2. Rise in Minimum Support Price (MSP) for kharif crops
- The Centre approved the raise in Minimum Support Price (MSP) for kharif crops in line with its budget announcement to ensure that farmers get at least 1.5 times of the production cost.
- The MSP for paddy has been hiked to around ₹1,750 per quintal from previous year’s ₹1,550 and corn increased to ₹1,700 from ₹1,131.
3. Behdienkhlam Festival held In Meghalaya
- The Union Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Dr Jitendra Singh attended the famous 4-day Meghalaya Annual Cultural Festival,Behdienkhlam.
- Behdienkhlam festival is held every year at the small peripheral town of Jowai, Meghalaya.
4. India’s 1st e-Waste Plant
- Union minister of chemicals and Fertilisers Ananth Kumar announced that the country’s first e-waste recycling unit will come up in Bengaluru, Karnataka.
- The initiative is in keeping with the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan drive.
International News
1. US celebrated ‘242nd Independence Day’ on 4th July
- The day is marked as the independence from Great Britain after the American Revolutionary War.
- The Philippines also celebrates July 4 as its Republic Day to commemorate that day in 1946 when it ceased to be a U.S. territory and the United States officially recognized Philippine Independence.
2. Gaming University will be in India :- UNESCO
- The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) entered into an agreement with the Andhra Pradesh government to set up a ‘Design University for Gaming’ in Visakhapatnam.
- Around a land area of 100 acres. The hub will create around 50,000 jobs in 10 years.
3. European Union Film Festival 2018
- National Film Archive of India is going to host European Union Film Festival 2018 from 6th July to 12th July in Mumbai.
- The seven days festival will feature 24 films all belonging to member countries of the European Union, from a variety of genres such as drama, romance and comedy.
4. Liliane Montevecchi passed Away
- Tony Award winner Liliane Montevecchi, the Paris-born dancer, actor, and singer, passed away.
- She died at the age of 85 following a battle with colon cancer.
Business News
1. Govt. approved HEFA to allot Rs.1 lakh crore
- Cabinet approved the Higher Education Funding Agency (HEFA) to allot Rs.1 lakh crore for research and infrastructure in the educational institutions by 2022.
- HEFA(2017) is a non-banking financing company for mobilizing extra-budgetary resources. The fund will help Kendriya Vidyalayas, Jawahar Vidyalayas and other central institutions for infrastructure purpose.
2. Khadi Institution Management and Information System (KIMIS)
- The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) launched its in-house developed, single-umbrella e-marketing system named Khadi Institution Management and Information System (KIMIS) in New Delhi.
- KIMIS will serve as in-house single umbrella billing software for sale and purchase that could be monitored, round-the-clock, from any part of India.
3. NABARD Sanctions Over Rs 735 crore For West Bengal
- NABARD has sanctioned Rs 735.53 crore in the first quarter of the current fiscal under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) for West Bengal for facilitating the execution of 86 projects.
- NABARD stands for National Bank For Agriculture And Rural Development.NABARD came into existence on 12 July 1982.Headquarters- Mumbai, Chairman- Dr Harsh Kumar Bhanwala.

1. Sports Authority of India to be renamed ‘Sports India’
- Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore confirmed that name of “Sports Authority of India” (SAI) will be changed as ‘Sports India’.
- The Sports Authority of India (SAI) is an apex National Sports body, established in 1984. Headquarters – Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Delhi.
2. India’s para-athlete Yogesh Kathuniya smashed the world record in the Men’s discus
- India’s para-athlete Yogesh Kathuniya smashed the world record in the Men’s discus F36 while winning Gold in the Para-Athletics Grand Prix in Berlin.
- Kathuniya threw 45.18m, which is more than two metres than the earlier world record of 42.96m set by China’s Cuiqing Li last year.
3. Quidditch World Cup’s final
- The US defeated Belgium in the fourth Quidditch World Cup’s final to clinch their third title.
- As many as 29 countries competed in the 2018 Quidditch World Cup, which is based on the game mentioned in JK Rowling’s Harry Potter books.
