1. ‘One Nation, One Card’

• PM Modi has launched ‘One Nation, One Card’ on RuPay card Programme for seamless travel across the country.
• ‘One Nation, One Card’ on RuPay can be used for payments across different segments, including Metro, bus, suburban railways, toll, parking and retail purchases.

2. ‘Young Scientist Programme’ Or ‘Yuva Vigyani Karyakram’

• ISRO has launched ‘Young Scientist Programme’ or “Yuva Vigyani Karyakram” for School Children.
• 100 students from across India for a two-week residential training programme during summer holidays for students who have completed class 8 and are studying in class 9.

3. ‘Bhagwan Mahavir Ahimsa Puraskar’

• Indian Air Force Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman will be honoured with the ‘Bhagwan Mahavir Ahimsa Puraskar’ as a first recipient.
• Abhinandan Varthaman is a wing-commander in the Indian Air Force. In the 2019 India-Pakistan standoff, he was held for three days under captivity in Pakistan after his aircraft was shot down in an aerial dogfight.

4. Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Mandhan (PM-SYM) Yojana

• PM Modi has launched the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Mandhan (PM-SYM) Yojana at Vastral in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
• Monthly Pension of 3000 rupees to the employees of unorganised sector after 60 years of age.

International News

1. Exercises ‘Foal Eagle’ and ‘Key Resolve’

• USA and South Korea have decided to call off their joint exercise ‘Foal Eagle’ and ‘Key Resolve’ and bifurcate them into smaller exercises.
• ‘Key Resolve’ will be replaced by ‘Dongmaeng’ (Alliance in English).
• Foal Eagle will be replaced by a smaller battalion-sized exercise.

• Seven of the top 10 most polluted cities in the world are in India.

3. Asian Rhinos

• India will collaborate with Bhutan, Nepal, Indonesia and Malaysia to protect the three species of Asian Rhinos.
• These Nations have signed a declaration ‘The New Delhi Declaration on Asian Rhinos 2019’.
• There are three Asian rhino species, all of which have been pushed to the brink of extinction. The greater one-horned is slowly recovering thanks to years of successful conservation efforts but the Sumatran and Java rhinos remain at great risk.

1. Uber with Ayushman Bharat

• Ayushman Bharat and Uber have inked a partnership for providing free healthcare for Uber drivers.
• National Health Authority (NHA) is the apex body for implementation of Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY).

2. Best Bank Award from Tamil Nadu Government

• Indian Bank has bagged the Best Bank Award from the Tamil Nadu Govt.
• Indian Bank is an Indian state-owned financial services company established in 1907 and headquartered in Chennai, India.

3. World’s Most Ethical Companies

• Tata Steel has received the award as one of the 2019 World’s Most Ethical Companies.
• It has been given by Ethisphere Institute, USA.
• Tata Steel Limited formerly Tata Iron and Steel Company Limited is an Indian multinational steel-making company headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, and a subsidiary of the Tata Group.

4. 56th SKOTCH Summit

• The 56th SKOTCH Summit was held at New Delhi.
• Odisha State Disaster Management Authority has bagged the SKOCH Award 2018 in the field of disaster management.

1. New President of Olympic Council of Asia

• Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah of Kuwait has been designated as president of Olympic Council of Asia.
• The Olympic Council of Asia is a governing body of sports in Asia, currently with 45 member National Olympic Committees.

2. Chairman of ICC Cricket Committee

• Anil Kumble has been re-appointed as the Chairman of the International Cricket Council Cricket Committee.
• The International Cricket Council is the global governing body of cricket. It was founded as the Imperial Cricket Conference in 1909 by representatives from Australia, England and South Africa. It was renamed as the International Cricket Conference in 1965, and took up its current name in 1989.

3. 2019 All England Open (Badminton)

• The All England Open Badminton Championships is the world’s oldest badminton tournament, held annually in England. With the introduction of the BWF’s latest grading system, it was given Super series status in 2007, upgraded to Super series Premier status in 2011.
• Prakash Padukone in 1980 and Pullela Gopichand in 2001 are the only winner form India. (Men’s singles).
