National News

1. National Traders Convention

  • Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has inaugurated the National Traders Convention at Ramlila Maidan, Delhi.
  • It was organised by Confederation of All India Traders.

2. Mission Indradhanush-2

  • The 2nd phase of Mission Indradhanush 2.0 rolled out in Uttar Pradesh.
  • The aim of the program launched by the central government in 2017 is to achieve 90% vaccination coverage in children of less than 2 years.

3. Vikram Sarabhai Children Innovation Center

  • Gujarat Government will set up Vikram Sarabhai Children Innovation Center in state.
  • Vikram Sarabhai Children Innovation Center (VSCIC) is aimed to identify, nurture and promote children’s innovation in the state.
  • Vikram Ambalal Sarabhai was an Indian physicist and astronomer who initiated space research and helped develop nuclear power in India. He was honoured with Padma Bhushan in 1966 and the Padma Vibhushan in 1972. He is internationally regarded as the Father of the Indian Space Program.

4. International Kite Festival 2020

  • Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani inaugurated International Kite Festival 2020 in Ahmedabad as a part of the official celebration of ‘Uttarayan’or ‘Makar Sankranti’.
  • Ahmedabad has been hosting the International Kite Festival since 1989.

International News

1. Marine Ecosystem MECOS-3

  • Kochi will host the 3rd international symposium on Marine Ecosystems Challenges and Opportunities (MECOS-3).
  • This symposium will be organised by the Marine Biological Association of India.

2. Line of Credit to Cuba

  • India has extended a line of credit of USD 75 million to Cuba for financing solar parks.

3. US Space Force

  • President Donald Trump has signed the 2020 National Defense Authorization Act with the signing of the act, US has authorised the establishment of US Space Force.
  • The US Space Force will become the 6th branch of the armed forces.

1. Human Space Flight Centre (HSFC)

  • ISRO has proposed Human Space Flight Centre (HSFC) at Challakere in Chitradurga district of Karnataka.
  • At present, astronauts part of Gaganyaan Mission, the Human Spaceflight Programme of ISRO are trained in Russia.

2. Uber Air

  • Uber Technologies and automaker Hyundai Motor have teamed up to develop Electric Air Taxis which is aimed to make small self-flying cars to ease urban congestion.
  • Uber is heading towards a goal of launching Uber Air by 2023 and urban air mobility service in 2028.
  • Uber Technologies, Inc., commonly known as Uber, is an American multinational ride-hailing company offering services that include peer-to-peer ridesharing, ride service hailing, food delivery, and a micro mobility system with electric bikes and scooters.

3. Two Indian banks to end their operations in Sri Lanka

  • The two Indian private sector lenders Axis Bank and ICICI Bank will close their operations in Sri Lanka.
  • Axis Bank is the fifth-largest Indian bank offering a wide assortment of financial products. The bank has its head office in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
  • ICICI Bank Limited is an Indian multinational banking and financial services company headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra with its registered office in Vadodara, Gujarat. As of 2018, ICICI Bank is the second largest bank in India in terms of assets and market capitalisation.

4. GDP Growth Rate by National Statistical Office

  • According to National Statistical Office (NSO), India’s GDP Growth has been forecasted to 5% in the current fiscal.
  • The National Statistical Office (NSO) headed by a Director General is responsible for conduct of large scale sample surveys in diverse fields on All India basis.

1. Hastings International Chess title

  • P Magesh Chandran of India has won the 95th edition of the prestigious Hastings International Chess Congress at Hastings in England.
  • France’s Romain Edouard took the second spot.

2. Khelo India University Games

  • The first edition of Khelo India University Games is scheduled to be held at the KIIT University in Bhubaneswar.
  • Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology, formerly KIIT University, is a private institute deemed to be university located in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India.
