Article Title: Censorship wins no arguments and just helps the right

Article Summary

An interesting article on censorship. The main idea it conveys is that banning the Daily Mail from Virgin trains achieves nothing but giving it a dissident glamour it doesn’t deserve. In the article right refers to the extreme which favors censorship and liberals are the opposite which are against censorship. The author has presented his views on the move by Virgin Rail where it refused to stock the Daily Mail citing that the newspaper is not compatible with the beliefs of the company.
The author has called out that such an act can be done by dictatorial neurotics, who are so frightened of their opponents that they cannot find the strength to take them on in the open.
The issue is essentially a war of ideologies between the alt-right and the liberals.
The solution to the issue is that one side must not ignore their opposition but actually get into a discussion with them. He gives the example that the most successful capitalist societies have strong welfare states rather than unregulated markets. The motivation behind much modern censorship is that the Virgin Rail has the urge to parade its righteousness. Criticizing the move he says that it is an egocentric and frivolous emotion. Instead of censoring and banning, it is the time to indulge is a debate or a discussion.
