Article Title: Why non-smokers are getting lung cancer

Article Summary

This article sheds light on the reason why non-smokers are getting diagnosed with lung cancer. Even if the number of people smoking might decrease, the overall number of people afflicted by lung cancer is increasing. Gender gap can be one of the reasons for this. Women smokers are in-creasing and the health effects due to smoking in case of women might be shown later in their lives, according to some scientific research.

Women empowerment is causing more women to act freely and also adopt such negative habits. Non-smoking lung cancer among women and children is also prevalent because of second-hand smoke. Gender-based roles like cooking using coal fires etc. may give access to second-hand smoke. Fewer people smoke overall, but the risk factor remains equally dangerous. Further, most of the lung-cancer patients have acted on their disease when it was in an advanced state, due to various stigma or other reasons associated with it. Understanding the differences existing from patient to patient, between smokers and non-smokers, men and women, makes it possible to de-sign more effective treatments for individual patients of lung cancer.
