Article Title: What is a playground?

Article Summary

In this article, the author travels back to the time when she was a child reminiscing of the fun she had playing outdoor games on the playground. While today’s kids are hardly playing outside and are confined to the comfort of their homes; as a child, the author couldn’t wait for the vacations to finally start so that she could go out and play along with her friends. Without any means to communicate she and her friends would meet daily and continue their games just on pure understanding.

She feels sad that kids nowadays know nothing of playing outdoors, and of the fun in falling and getting hurt or simply playing for fun. Playgrounds today witness parents forcefully take their children out to play who instead prefer going back to their PlayStation consoles and cellphones. While the author is glad about the scientific progress humanity has made all along she is worried about fading away of our rudimentary practices in the din of chaos that is taking place in the name of advancement. With kids slowly becoming oblivious to the joys of the past, the author fears there might be a time when kids would learn about playgrounds from their textbooks. With memories of the days gone by, she yearns to play with her friends, on the open grounds, for one more time.
