1. Dark Web
• The dark web is the World Wide Web content that exists on darknets, overlay networks that use the Internet but require specific software, configurations, or authorization to access.
Usage: Online forums within the dark web are used by groups who would rather keep their conversations secret.
2. Travesty
• A false, absurd, or distorted representation of something. A travesty is a cheap mockery, usually of something or someone serious, such as a travesty of justice.
Usage: We should raise our voices now to help prevent such a travesty in the future.
3. Delimitation
• The action of fixing the boundary or limits of something.
Usage: The government is yet to pass legislation on delimitation of constituencies in the province.
4. Litigation
• The process of taking legal action.
Usage: The state agreed that the litigation should be resolved as soon as possible to eliminate confusion.
5. Direct election vs Indirect Election
• Direct election is a system of choosing political officeholders in which the voters directly cast ballots for the persons, or political party that they desire to see elected.
Usage: The main arguments for direct election of the prime minister lie in recent history.
• By contrast, in an indirect election, the voters elect a body which in turn elects the officeholder in question.
Usage: In indirect election, politicians cannot make emotional appeals and amass votes neither can they exploit the mass by bribing them with cash or kind.
6. Manhandle
• Handle someone roughly by dragging or pushing. When you manhandle something, you pick it up, push it, or pull it roughly.
Usage: We were spat on, sworn at, and manhandled.
7. Squabbles
• Quarrel noisily over a trivial matter.
Usage: The boys were squabbling over a ball.
8. Fearmongering
• The action of deliberately arousing public fear or alarm about a particular issue.
Usage: His campaign for re-election was based on fearmongering and deception.
9. Promulgate
• To promote or make widely known an idea or cause.
Usage: These objectives have to be promulgated within the organization.
10. Proviso
• A condition or qualification attached to an agreement or statement.
Usage: He let his house with the proviso that his own staff should remain to run it.
