Article Title: ‘Find Your Passion’ Is Awful Advice

Article Summary

This article focuses on gratitude and the writer has used anecdotes from his personal life to highlight the significance of gratitude. Gratitude means readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness. The writer remembers his childhood and discusses the impact of her mother on his outlook and how small incidents in life have taught him so much.

He later starts working in group homes where violence, pain and fear were the default settings. The writer believes that there is difference in being thankful and showing gratitude, thankfulness is outwardly focused and courteous however gratitude is internally focused, where you appreciate what has been done to or for you. We talk a lot about  microagressions: minute social gestures hidden in prejudice and disregard but we rarely (if ever) talk about the joy and the little microalliances that stem from authentically expressing gratitude. In reality the world out there is ruthless and it has become increasingly difficult to empathise with others.
