Article Title: Women won’t ask a man for more pay – but they will ask a woman

Article Summary

This article explains what changes one might undergo in their lives when we consider a hypothetical situation where everyone knows the exact date and means of their death. To fend off our paralysing existential terror of death, we began to cling harder to foundational cultural beliefs and strive to boost our sense of self-worth. The death anxiety triggers us to favour people with similar thinking as ours and hate people with different thoughts than ours; we become more nihilistic and become less concerned about caring for the environment.

When we are told about the means of our death and how it would impact our families, we tend to behave very differently. We may become more altruistic and our priorities in life may also change. Depending on various personality types, people may react differently. Some people may spend more time on self-development, some may spend their remaining days happily, some may spend those days on curing their illness due to which they may die. Religion might also be affected greatly if we consider this hypothetical situation. Family, relations and marriages also might get affected. We might have to grapple with new laws and norms in our social life as well. Some might resort to self-death while some might throw parties before their deaths. Our ways of life would be profoundly changed due to this.
