Recommendation 1 from ‘The New York Times’

Article Name:‘In a troubled country, still time for high society’

By: ‘Declan Walsh’

Article states that a new magazine, Hello! Pakistan is out to paint the image of Pakistan. Magazine states that it will focus on the country’s soft side in such a way that it will wash away the image of burqas and bombs that west is so fixated on. However, there is another side of the coin too. Many might agree that this may help, but there are few people ho do not agree with the approach, as it being called a life within the bubble and the bubble is filled with nonsense.

Summary:

Well, Hello! Pakistan might not be entirely wrong in the effort to paint the image, with the high class stuff. But what more needs to be focused on is the elimination of the bombs, even if not eliminated fully, the effort needs to e shown, as this is what will make a difference and not just high fashion.

Recommendation 2 from ‘The New York Times’

Article Name:‘Chinese artist is barred from his own hearing’

By: ‘Andrew Jacobs’

Article states that in China, an artist has been barred from his own hearing of his law suit against tax officials. Article states that just in case Chinese authorities had thought that barring him from his own hearing would not generate public interest then they must have been really disappointed. However, the opposite has happened, when he was not allowed to attend his own hearing, hundreds of supporters gathered outside the court even in the presence of army of officers. Further, the article also points out that the artist was also had to spend 81 days in jail last year and was also instructed to stay in Beijing and keep his mouth shut.

Summary:

Perhaps, he authorities have forgotten that even in history, it has been the oppression that has resulted in revolutions. So, for them thinking that this would have not generated public interest in the case then they are highly mistaken indeed. They have just exaggerated the case and again drawn international attention on their oppressive way. Lets flush freedom of speech down the drain.
