Article Summary
This article is an open letter by the author to the Young Women of today’s age. The author calls today’s women lucky as they have access to opportunities that were previously unavailable to them. But she wonders if these choices really make life easier for them, or pile up the pressure. While career choices for women in the past were few, it made life simpler and being urbane was a huge differentiator between women. However, ample choices have increased the burden on women to prove themselves, who she says are determined to be everything instead of focussing on the acme of one. She considers social media to as a biggest risk factor for women as it increases insecurities and other anxieties. As such, one has to have good self control and high self awareness so as to not slide down this slippery slope. Instead of giving into worldly troubles, she advises women to be self-aware and not allow anything to shatter their sense of security. Instead of letting their gender define their role, let gender highlight who they are. And lastly – to help less fortunate women and, be a beacon of light and hope for a more evolved world.
